According to the report by the verge, Twitter is working on a new “Super Follow” feature that will allow Twitter users to charge followers and give them access to extra content like bonus tweets, access to a community group, subscription to a newsletter, or a badge indicating your support.
This is a new way for the Twitter creators who can earn money from Direct payments. Twitter will presumably take a cut which helps company to earn extra revenue. Other popular platforms like Facebook, YouTube have all launched direct creator payment features.
There’s no timeline yet for when either of these features will be available on Twitter. The company has listed them as “what’s next” for its platform.
The Future is about Subscriptions
The Future is all about subscriptions. The ad revenue for companies is falling down and companies that rely on ads should look for an alternative to make revenue. Other platforms like Facebook, Youtube have already had this feature and now Twitter is following the same trend. This will help creators to earn money. I personally welcome this set of new subscription-based services for creators as it helps us to earn money and make more content for our users.
